1. A Jenny Packham wedding dress. 2. A romantic garden wedding theme. 3. A bird motif. Three of my favourite things, all featured in one gorgeous wedding! Sonya and Terry celebrated their wedding in Ireland on a beautiful summer's day, at a stunning venue called The Village at Lyons. Sonya really wanted a garden wedding, and drew inspiration from the romantic grounds of The Village at Lyons, including its cascading stream, delicate bridge, and secret stone doorways. Her wedding stationery, decorations and just-picked flower arrangements all mirrored the feel of her wedding venue, with pastel colours of pinks and peach as a palette. There's plenty more details in the reception pictures, coming later this afternoon, but first, drink in Sonya's elegant Jenny Packham wedding gown, and her bargainous eBay wedding shoes, that luckily turned out to exactly match the beading on her dress. Even Sonya's hair-style reflected her romantic wedding theme, with her headpiece specially designed to look ethereal and Elvish, like in Lord of the Rings. We celebrated our wedding at Kilternan Church of Ireland in Co. Dublin, and afterwards with a reception in The Village at Lyons in Celbridge, on 20th June 2013. I chose a summer garden theme with cream and soft pastel colours.
I sourced my beaded and feathered cream shoes on eBay. The decoration matched my Jenny Packham dress perfectly, and I took a chance with buying them on eBay which paid off!
My headpiece was made by Aisling at Rangoli Designs. It had a centre-drop Swarovski stone which matched the stones in the front of my dress. I designed this with Aisling, as I knew I wanted a headpiece which made me look ethereal, and reminded me of the elvish headpieces in Lord of the Rings. I worse my hair down in loose curls with the headpiece ribbons tied at the back.
My wedding dress was Tabitha by Jenny Packham. I tried on a few styles of dresses, and the minute I tried on the Tabitha, I knew it was for me. It felt so floaty, and tied in with my ethereal, summer garden theme that I wanted for my wedding.
My gown wasn't white, so the cream really stood out for me in the shop, along with all the detail of the beading in the front of the dress. I always knew I wanted something that was a bit different. Because it was silk, it was really comfortably and light to wear on such a hot day.
Our wedding stationery was designed by Pretty as a Picture in Rathnew. I was searching all the usual stationary supplier websites for something a bit different, that would suit by summer garden theme. I noticed on Pretty as Picture's homepage a background image of a summer garden with beautiful flowers, butterflies, birds & birdcage.
I called Ailbhe at Pretty as a Picture, who told me she'd actually designed the illustration herself, and let me use it for my invitations and ceremony booklets. They designed the invitations and ceremony booklets using the illustration beautifully.
I walked up the aisle to 'She Moves Through The Fair' - a traditional Irish folk song, and back to Norah Jones' 'Come Away With Me'. Our first dance was to 'It Feels Like Home' by Chantal Kreviazuk.
Our wedding florist was Lorcan at AbFab Flowers in Celbridge. I wanted a soft, pastel coloured mix of blooms, with a handpicked summer garden look. I chose pale pink and cream peony roses, cream and peach roses, astilbe, and baby's breath.
My husband wore a navy fitted suit from Zara, with brown shoes and a navy paisley tie which picked up the cream in my dress.
My twin sister was my bridesmaid. She wore a soft pink gown I sourced again from eBay. I knew I wanted a long peachy pink chiffon dress to tie in with the theme.
She wore flat sandals embellished with stones, which matched the colour of the dress perfectly, and her hair was braided in the same way that Jessica Alba's was for an awards ceremony a few years ago.
I saw a piece about Eden Photography, and Tanya our photographer, on an Irish wedding site, called Weddings Online. They'd featured a beautiful wedding she'd shot in Ballymagarvey House, and I loved her style of photography instantly.
Tanya creates candid, relaxed photographs ,with beautiful shots of the little things that really matter on your wedding day. I met with Tanya and knew she was the perfect match for me. I felt relaxed and comfortable with her all day.
