Real Rural DIY Wedding: Catherine & Matt - Wedding Reception

Posted by Weddings Dresses Ideas

After the beautiful getting ready pictures, and perfect portrait shots, are you ready for la pièce de résistance? Yup, it's time for the stunning reception details. Catherine and Matt chose their local village hall for their wedding reception, and added unique rustic vintage touches with the help of stylists Add a Little Sparkle. I love the mix of fresh and dried flower arrangements, the bark vases and mini-log place marker stands {made by Catherine's dad}, and the cute animal familiars on each table. Catherine also DIY'd all the favour crackers out of handmade paper, snappers from eBay and flowers grown in her own garden. Even the bird wedding toppers were hand-sewn and embroidered by the bride - you can buy similar from her Etsy shop. Huge thanks to Lily Sawyer Photography for her beautiful pictures - she really captured every wedding detail!

We celebrated our wedding in St Mary Bredin Church in Canterbury, in Kent, and hosted our wedding reception at Chilham Village Hall.

The venue decorations were done by Add a Little Sparkle who lit up the whole venue, which made it look amazing!

My bridesmaids and I had grown flowers in our gardens and collected grasses from nearby fields. We dried these, and the team from Add a Little Sparkle tied the bunches to the backs of the covered chairs.

Our wedding flowers were made by the most beautiful dried flower shop in Bishopsgate called Essentially Hops. We also bought all the animals for each table from there, as Matt and I loved them so much. We're now very happy to have them all over our house!

I have to thank my Dad very much for trusting me and helping me make all the table decorations. There were many occasions spent wondering around woods finding the perfect logs and pieces of bark, which we made into wooden name place holders for the guests, and bark vases for the centre piece. The guests loved their name holders and most of them took them home afterwards!

Favours were something I really wanted to make for each guest, so for a bit of fun we made crackers with handmade paper and dried flowers grown in our garden. They were filled with champagne bubbles, snapper strips bought on eBay and yummy Lindt Lindor chocolates.

Birds had to play a big theme in the wedding, as I'm a little bird obsessed! So for the top of the cake I made two smaller versions of the birds I make and sell, to represent Matt and I dressed in our wedding attire. {You can buy similar from her Etsy shop}.

The cake flowers were skilfully made by Matt's younger sister Sarah and made the cake look really stunning!
