Real Elegant Love-Filled Wedding with a Pink, Silver & Cream Colour Palette

Roll up for the fantastic reception pictures from Lucy and Matt's vintage-themed wedding. With a traditional sweetie table, a framed table plan, and wedding favours full of meaning and memory, it's a heartwarming big day. My favourite stealworthy details include all the matching table stationery {if you're DIYing choose a font and use it on everything for a put-together look}, the red velvet, four-tier wedding cake, and the table names {all after famous couples!}. Don't miss Lucy's answers to the Before the Big Day Bride's Questionnaire - there's tonnes of fab suppliers and advice in there. Lucy's top tip? To draw on the talents of your friends to save you money. Lucy was lucky enough to know a make-up artist, a hairdresser, a graphic designer, and a florist! We can't all be that fortunate, but ask around, you'll be surprised how many handy people there are out there. Huge thanks to Kirsty from This and That Photography for these gorgeous photographs.

We chose Kirsty from This and That Photography to capture our big day. She's a local photographer, and our close friends had already booked her for their wedding, so she came highly recommended. Her pictures are always stunning, natural and warm with a sense of fun.

Kirsty has a real passion about each wedding she photographs, and seems to genuinely love what she does. On the day she was discrete, capturing secret shots of our guests, and she had fabulous ideas for posed photographs. She always has a smile on her face, and has a real knack at putting people at ease. We couldn't have picked a better photographer to shoot our wedding day and I would thoroughly recommend her.

Matthew and I got married on 18th May 2013 at Warbrook House and Grange, in Eversley, in Hampshire. We wanted a venue that was elegant and special, yet welcoming and not stuffy, and so soon as we went to visit Warbrook House, we knew it was exactly right for us.

The grounds are stunning and we had complete run of the Main House, which meant it was only us and our guests around.

Matts mother, Fiona, passed away suddenly in October 2009, and having our wedding day without her meant that we really wanted to pay tribute to her memory in subtle ways. One thing we knew that she loved was cream roses, so it was a given that these had to be incorporated into the wedding in some way. We decided that Matt's buttonhole and my bouquet would both be cream roses, and from there the colour scheme developed into cream, pink and silver.

Our centrepieces were a variety of cream and pink flowers, including roses and peonies in cubed and tall vases on alternating tables. We also used them to decorate the ceremony, along with lanterns dotted along the aisle, with rose petals and candles to create an elegant walkway. We also added silver satin sashes on our chair covers to fit in with our theme.

Our wedding reception centrepieces were created by Lorna from Lavender Blue. I gave Lorna a pretty poor description of what I wanted, as I am useless with flowers, but she understood me completely and I was so happy with her work.

Our wedding favours were pink Breast Cancer Care pins in celebration of my grandmother {who has had the disease twice in 12 years}, and silver British Heart Foundation pins in memory of Matt's mum, who passed away from a heart complaint. We put each favour in a personalised card bag, which also doubled as a place setting for each guest.

Our wedding invitations were put together by a team of friends, who were rewarded with Chinese food and wine! I also sourced a cream birdcage to hold our cards, and wrapped individual paper roses through it for decoration.

My main DIY project was arranging the sweetie table - sourcing vases, huge bags of sweets, bags, signs, scoops...it became a full time job. My husband has a massive sweet tooth, so the sweetie table had to knock his socks off.

My friend, Caroline, is a graphic designer and created all of our stationary, from our invitations to our table plan details, and each of the personalised paper favour bags. She also made us some 'Just Married' bunting to hang over the sweetie table. Nothing was too much hassle for Caroline and she is incredible at what she does.

We always wanted a big cake, but didn't want it covered in loads of detail. We wanted it to complement the laid back elegance of our day, so selected a gorgeous four-tiered ivory cake with a lace and pearl trim, topped with fresh pink roses. We had four different sponges {red velvet went down a storm}, and my grandmother also baked a matching fruit cake.

I really enjoyed planning our wedding - the excitement of arranging so much is unlike anything I had ever experienced. There were some stressful moments, but overall I had a positive planning experience and really miss it now!

My advice to future brides would be to call on friends and family with talents. I was lucky enough to know a make-up artist, a hairdresser, a graphic designer, and a florist. It made me feel much more comfortable, truly knowing the people playing key parts in these elements of my day. Also, make sure you the day reflects you as a couple. A few personalised touches that are specific to the both of you really do go a long way.
