The New War Paint...

Square tip or rounded tip the tailored talon is the fad du jour. Painting your nails, or not painting them in some of our cases, is no longer just part of our girlie beauty ritual as they take a leap out of the realms of self grooming and into the world of bone fide fashion accessory.

You would have to be living under a rock not to have noticed the absolute obsession of all things nail art that has consumed fashion editors, celebrities and frazzled fashionistas world wide. Surely your facebook, pinterest, twitter, instagram or whatever social media you frequent has been inundated with pictures and videos of the “How too...” variety. So, railers (yes thats my new name for you brilliant people who take the time out of your lives to read my ramblings, and i thank you for it) for those of you who haven’t already do we embrace this new fad with gusto? Yes, yes yes I say! Why not?

I for one have always been a sucker for a bit of nail art, and in my school days was known to spend hours of the weekend painting patterns and designs of all sorts on my nails with a tooth pick and a rainbow assortment of acrylic paints, you could call that creativity or just a nod towards the fact that i do upon occasion prefer the company of inanimate objects to that of human beings.

No ones making us go over the top or all out girlie with stick on jewels, crystals, bows and hearts if we don’t want to, but whats the harm in embracing a little bit of fun and colour and letting a little bit of our girlie side out? Theres plenty of options out there.

So whether you decide to DIY it like my thirteen year old self and get your mini paint pots out (I used to use the ones left over from my paint by numbers sets), go to the salon, wrap your nails in preprinted patterns, stick ‘em on (i really like the Hairspray and Nails Inc nails for the OTT effect, and Penneys do a great range for those of us on a budget) or just try out some special effects nail varnish, matt, feather look, leather look, chrome all courtesy of Nails inc or some Ciate nail caviar, make sure you have fun and Express Yourself (don’t forget to sing that last part).

Whatever you do decide to do... Just don’t bite them!
