Do The Hot Cloth

The Road To Porefection

As well as being a full time frazzled fashionista I am a total cosmetics junkie, I mean i am obsessed with beauty products, I love them all, except fake tan... yes i am one of those people but thats a whole blog post for another day... I particularly love cleansers and moisturisers, i have been blessed with the gift of good skin but i intend to keep it that way and hopefully keep the wrinkles at bay!

So after my blog post a few weeks ago “Spring Clean” i got some great feedback from some of you ladies and i was recommended Superdrug’s Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser. I hadn’t ventured to try any of the hot cloth cleansers yet I know the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser had made waves but those of you who have read the post may know that i love Burt’s Bees Citrus Facial Scrub and have been using it for years so i never felt the need to switch it up much and frankly i wasn’t totally convinced...

So heres my little review... I managed to get my hands on Superdrug’s Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser which was a bit of a task seeing as i live on the Emerald Isle and Superdrug is and English chain but where theres a will theres a way... The first thing i was really impressed with was the amazing value, it was £3.99 for a 200ml tube and muslin cloth making it by far the cheapest of the hot cloth cleansers out there!! The second thing i noticed is that it really doesn’t smell how you expect a cleanser to smell it smells more like a creamy body lotion of the cocoa butter variety which i quite like cos it reminds me of holidays and hot summer days and with the weather we’re having thats probably the best i can hope for! The cream itself is thick and white, it works in well and is soothing and nourishing which is due to the horse chestnut extract that helps to care for dry skin. The muslin cloth is of decent quality and holds heat well when you wring it out. I like to repeat the process twice to get a really clean feel particularly if its been a makeup day(it works great on mascara too) and then i rinse with cold water. i find it leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed with absolutely no dryness, in fact my skin feels quite silky and nourished afterwards.

So i have been using it for almost a week now and i have to say i love it, i have been converted! I mean it will never replace my beloved Burt’s Bees but i don’t see me using a cleansing lotion or cold cream cleanser again anytime soon...

For the rest of you who live in a Superdrug free zone here are some alternatives.. The Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, which i think is pricey enough at €17.75 for 100ml, is available at Boots and Debenhams. A good and infact some have said better alternative to Liz Earle is No.7 Radiance Boosting Hot Cloth Cleanser also available in Boots, its priced at €13.50 for 200ml which is a good price but if you have one of those €7.50 off vouchers loitering in your purse it works out a bargain. Also available at Boots is Soap & Glory The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser, priced at €13.49 for 100ml. All of the cleansers come with a muslin cloth, so there you go ladies... Happy cleansing!!
